Creative Writing Prompts - Clouds
Here is the second list of ideas in my series of Creative Writing prompts.
The purpose of these writing prompts is to encourage both children and adults to be more creative, get outside, be inspired by their natural surroundings and start writing about what they see and experience.
This time around, I would like to share some more creative ideas about how clouds and their unique formations can be incorporated into your writing.
Clouds are an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon that can help stimulate your senses, motivate you to produce imaginative pieces of writing, photography, or develop other creative outlets.
Looking up is hopefully something we all do from time to time, and by doing so, what you see can provide an excellent stimulus for you to do something new and unique.
So, once again, I encourage you to look through the list of ideas below. Get outdoors into your local environment, look up at the sky at different points of the day. Make notes, take pictures about what you see and begin to understand the differences between your Cirrus, Altostratus and Cumulonimbus clouds and how they behave.
Then use these natural components as a stimulus to develop your writing ideas and create something unique.

Cloud Writing Prompts
If the clouds were a different colour, what colour would they be?
Write a story about living in the clouds.
On a hot summers day, you are walking through a large, isolated field. You look to the horizon and see angry grey clouds building far in the distance. The clouds grow bigger and more menacing. Write what happens next.
If clouds could make music, what would they play?
Describe what it would be like to fly among the clouds.
Write a poem about a solitary cloud floating in the sky.
Create a conversation between two clouds, of different shapes and sizes.
Lost in the clouds - write about not being able to see ahead of you.
Sit outside for about an hour. Look up at the clouds and write down what you see.
Write about the difference between the clouds at sunrise and sunset.
What if the clouds, sky and weather were made of sweets. Describe how they would look and taste.
Write about the life cycle of a cloud. How it grows and the journey it takes.
Take a photograph, or paint a watercolour, then describe what you see.
