Craft Cadence "KOM" Cycling Jersey Review

A few weeks ago, I was delighted to be approached by Craft Cadence who is a UK based cycling company selling a growing range of exciting cycling accessories that are suited to the needs of the modern-day cycling commuter. Being a daily cycle commuter myself, I was delighted to take the opportunity to review and spread the word about one of their excellent new products and then use these products out on my daily commuter rides.

Who are Craft Cadence?

The company established itself reasonably recently due to the owners wanting to create a range of stylish and durable items to be used out on the commute. The founders of Craft Cadence had been commuting themselves to work for several years when they saw the cycle commuting boom take off with the introduction of the London Cycle Superhighways and the ease of travelling from home to work.

Like most cyclists out there at the start of their commuting adventures, they started their individual cycling adventures by using whatever bags and luggage they had to carry their essentials between work and home. Over time, as the founders began to establish themselves as regular cycle commuters, they began to look for cycling-specific gear that would enable the commutes to become more manageable, more comfortable and use products that would be more reliable in all types of weather.

After completing their initial research and drawing upon their own needs, they quickly found that cycling commuting gear was dominated by only a few widespread companies across the high street stores and available online.

So with creative and forward-thinking and a dedicated approach to making a range of products that would evolve. Craft Cadence has seen the opportunity to tip the trend by designing and releasing a range of interesting items that surely can give the more well known and established brands a run for their money.

Now the company have set its mission to connect closely with the cycling commuter community, reach out to them, and serve them better. As a result, Craft Cadence is a company dedicated to cycling commuting and evolving alongside the growing community and its specific needs.

“KOM” Cycling Jersey

I was given the opportunity to collaborate with Craft Cadence, receive and try out one of their stylish new cycling jerseys. The particular jersey that Craft Cadence sent out to me was called the short-sleeved 'King of the Mountain' jersey.

On the first impression, I was delighted with the overall design and colour of this garment. This jersey comes in a vibrant colour contrasting a mix of black and teal. It is stylish, and it looks good. The front and the back of the jersey are prominent in their appearance, produced in a striking Teal colour, with the sleeves and neckline being a contrasting jet black.

At the front of the jersey is a graded pattern that builds from the bottom of the waistline, and it looks striking and perfect out on the ride. The company's branding is placed on the front chest and appears over the back pocket, where essential items can be conveniently stored while out on the bike. It even has a pouch that can easily store keys or other important personal items.

The Fit

The material used to make the product was very comfortable on the skin, and the fit was comfortable. Often with cycling gear, the overall fit can be minimal, so I tend to choose one size up for added comfort and movement. Once again, I felt this was an excellent option to choose with this particular kit.

This jersey looks good, and it is a wise choice for you if you are looking to combine sustainability, responsible sourcing and performance all in one.

It has many benefits, and those include:

100% Global Recycling Standard (GRS) certified recycled technical fabric that is both sustainable and high performing

  • Zip guard to prevent zipper discomfort while riding

  • Soft and comfortable fit that is suitable for casual riding and club runs

  • Reflective trims on the back for nighttime visibility

  • High-quality, full-length SBS zipper

  • Three easy-to-access rear pockets with additional zipped pocket

  • Extra thick 2cm silicone hem gripper for tight fit and improved stability

Logo across the chest. Simplicity is best!

Attention to detail and graded design on the front.

Testing the product

I have used the jersey frequently, with daily use out on the commuter rides or out on a longer ride during the weekend. In the summer weather conditions, the short-sleeved jersey was neither too warm nor too cold. It suited the needs well and was significantly breathable, which is encouraging to see, especially when the weather tends to get reasonably warm. The jersey can also be worn on the colder days and under and Gillet or jacket, where it still felt comfortable.

My size was a good fit, and it felt comfortable instead of being either too baggy or too tight. I think it fitted pretty well. The soft material made it feel comfortable throughout the rides, and the garment's stitching meant that it continually felt robust.

All in all the product looks well made and seems to be good for the price of 65 pounds. In my opinion, cycling clothing can be costly, and it is often difficult to see what you get for your money. Still, I was pleasantly surprised by what was offered in a fairly competitive price range and competing against other similar products on the market.
